Summer headache consultations benefit National Headache Foundation education, research

Summer isn’t any fun when you have a headache. But for many of the 30 million Americans who suffer from migraine headaches, solutions for soothing headache symptoms may be just around the corner.

In recognition of National Headache Awareness Week, SUPERVALU PHARMACIES will offer special one-on-one consultations with a specially-trained SUPERVALU pharmacist to help headache sufferers manage their symptoms, and at the same time, raise money for the National Headache Foundation’s (NHF) Migraine Million campaign.

The in-store headache consultations will start June 7th – the beginning of National Headache Awareness Week – and continue through August 31st. During the two-part consultations, patients will work with a SUPERVALU clinical pharmacist to determine what triggers may be causing their headaches and how to avoid them. Also, patients will learn how keeping a headache diary can help manage headaches and discuss what prescription treatments are available and may be best for their individual needs.

Select SUPERVALU pharmacies operating under the retail brands of ACME SAV-ON PHARMACY, ALBERTSONS SAV-ON PHARMACY, ALBERTSONS OSCO PHARMACY, CUB PHARMACY, JEWEL-OSCO PHARMACY, SHAW’S OSCO PHARMACY, SHOP ‘N SAVE PHARMACY, SHOP ‘N SAVE OSCO PHARMACY and SHOPPERS PHARMACY will offer the summertime headache consultations in 16 states.

“Headache is a legitimate and often treatable condition. We want headache sufferers in the communities we serve to understand they do not have to suffer, and also know that SUPERVALU pharmacists are available to help,” said Chris Dimos, RPh, president, SUPERVALU PHARMACIES.
