Wednesday, June 03, 2009 9:45 AM

LIN TV Corp. (NYSE: TVL), a local television and digital media company, is pleased to announce that Joshua Chagani is the recipient of its 2009 Minority Scholarship and Training Program.

Mr. Chagani, a junior at Elon University in North Carolina, was chosen out of approximately 50 student applicants nationwide. He will receive a two-year scholarship, for up to twenty thousand ($20,000) dollars per year, that he can use toward tuition, fees, books, and room and board. In addition, LIN TV will provide Mr. Chagani with hands-on broadcast training through a paid summer internship program at WALA-TV and WBPG-TV in Mobile, AL, where he will gain valuable experience in all areas of television station operations.

Mr. Chagani is highly versatile in digital media. He has experience in web site design and animation as well as in producing films, including camera operations, sound editing and special effects. While at Elon University, Mr. Chagani produced several films and documentaries, including: “A River’s Reach”, a feature film highlighting globalization; “D.E.E.P. Impact”, a Multicultural Center awareness video; and water conservation television commercials for a local television station.

“As the media industry continues to reinvent itself, we want to provide an opportunity for talented students to pursue their goals in journalism,” said Vincent L. Sadusky, president and chief executive officer. “This scholarship is a well-deserved recognition of Joshua’s accomplishments. We encourage his continued hard work and ambition.”

“Earning one of the industry’s most prominent scholarships is a tremendous honor and it will undoubtedly open up many doors for me,” remarked Joshua Chagani. “I am truly grateful.”

For more than a decade, LIN TV has awarded scholarships to ambitious students pursuing a wide spectrum of fields in or relating to broadcast television and digital media, ranging from producing and engineering to broadcast journalism, community affairs and sales. Students are selected for the Minority Scholarship and Training Program based on criteria, including academic achievement, passion for broadcasting and desire to contribute to the overall advancement of the industry.

LIN TV’s 2008 Minority Scholarship recipient, Allyn Hoang, now a senior at the University of Texas, will intern at KXAN-TV in Austin, TX, this summer, in the News Department. Both Minority Scholarship recipients will be offered full-time permanent positions at a television station owned and/or operated by LIN TV upon graduation and successful completion of the program.
