Grants for Sustainability and Park Enhancements Presented at
Reception in Washington, DC
At a reception held on Capitol Hill yesterday evening, Unilever, one of
the world’s largest consumer products companies, in conjunction with the
National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s National
Parks, awarded a total of $288,000 in grants to 12 National Parks across
America. Unilever Senior Vice President, HR and Communications Americas,
Fiona C. Laird presented the grants.
“As a global company, we have a responsibility to address social,
economic, and environmental challenges that impact our consumers and
society,” said Laird. “As such, we deliver on our Vitality mission by
focusing on several areas, including Sustainable Development, which is
at the heart of our work with America’s National Parks.”
“Together the National Park Foundation and Unilever are working to
provide a sustainable future for America’s National Parks,” commented
Vin Cipolla, Vice Chair, National Park Foundation. “As we celebrate this
16-year partnership and commitment valued in excess of $50 million, we
are proud to be standing again with Unilever to deliver these tangible
benefits directly to National Parks to support priority initiatives.”
The $288,000 includes Recycling at Work Sustainable Grants as well as
Discretionary Grants to support the Parks. Unilever’s support is an
integral component of its commitment to preserve and protect America’s
National Parks. Established in 1998, the Recycling at Work Sustainable
Grants are open to all 391 National Parks and awarded to Parks that have
demonstrated a need for employing sustainable lumber to strengthen Park
infrastructure.
