SOUTHERN BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS GROUP (SBCG), a premier audio
visual integrator and solution provider, and wholly-owned subsidiary of
Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX), was recently honored as the recipient of
the Pro AV Spotlight Award for AV Integration Excellence. The award was
presented at the InfoComm 2009 Conference on June 17, 2009 in Orlando,
Florida.
Pro AV, published by Hanley Wood LLC, recognizes the best professional
Audio Visual installations designed for corporate, educational,
government and other non-residential applications. SBCG’s winning
project, Baptist Medical Plaza at Country Walk MRI/CT Center in Miami,
Florida won for the Best Health Care AV Project.
“We are honored and excited to receive this prestigious award,” said
SBCG president, Daniel G. Boylan. “In the AV industry, experience and
creativity are critical to the success of an integrator. Having over 25
years experience designing AV solutions in different vertical markets
and construction scenarios gives us the experience and diversity needed
to excel at a project such as this. This was a very significant project
for SBCG because of the uniqueness of the installation, and the comfort
it brings to the lives of children with medical needs.”
Baptist Medical Plaza at Country Walk MRI/CT Center is an extraordinary
medical facility for children. The AV design objective was to create an
environment that would be less traumatic for children by creating rooms
that provide a visual experience that could put the child at ease prior
to a medical procedure. Because of the creative work done by SBCG, the
facility now has several areas which allow children to visually and
physically interact in such a way as to alleviate much of the anxiety
associated with their procedures.
“Some AV installations impress with their size and complexity. Others,
like Southern Business Communications’ work at the Baptist Country Walk
MRI/CT Center, dazzle in their thoughtful simplicity,” said Brad Grimes,
editor of Pro AV. “The judges loved how this creative project could make
a difference in kids’ lives.”
The project will be featured in the July 2009 issue of Pro AV magazine
and in specially produced slideshows on Pro AV's Web site, http://www.proavmagazine.com.
It will also appear in Hanley Wood's ARCHITECT magazine, which is read
by 60,000 practicing architects and design professionals working on
non-residential projects.
In addition to the Spotlight Award, SBCG has received numerous other AV
industry awards including NSCA Excellence in Business Award for
Professional Development, SMART Technologies’ Dealer of Distinction,
Samsung Rookie of the Year Award, Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer
Award, NEC Sales Excellence Award, Christie VIP Platinum Partner and
Crestron Platinum Level Award.
