Resuscitation Products Leader Moves Up 16 Points

ZOLL Medical Corporation (Nasdaq GS: ZOLL), a manufacturer of resuscitation devices and related software solutions, today announced that The Boston Globe has named the Company to the “Globe 100” list of top performing public companies in Massachusetts.

Based on a composite score derived from financial data for the four quarters ending December 31, 2008, ZOLL was ranked 27 among Massachusetts-based companies whose stock is publicly traded, moving up from number 43 a year earlier. It is one of eight medical device companies to have been included in the Globe 100.

“These companies represent the resiliency of Massachusetts business, navigating difficult waters and surviving the ebbs and flows of an unstable economy and stock market," said Shirley Leung, business editor of the Boston Globe.

To qualify for the Globe 100, a company must have been public for the entire 2008 calendar year and have reported a positive net income for both 2007 and 2008. Companies are ranked on four criteria: return on average equity, one-year percentage change in revenue, one-year percentage change in profit margin, and 2008 revenue.

“We are extremely pleased to be recognized again this year in the company of Massachusetts’ strongest business organizations from various sectors, and delighted that based on our performance we continue to rise in the rankings,” said Richard A. Packer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ZOLL.

Earlier this year, ZOLL was named one of America’s 100 Most Trustworthy Companies by Forbes for the third consecutive year, one of only 10 companies receiving this distinction for all three years the list has been published.

Now in its 21st year, The Globe 100 ranks Massachusetts-based public companies based on financial data from the four quarters ending closest to December 31, and for corresponding quarters a year earlier.
