Leading Assistive Mobile Phone Screen Reader Features SIM-Based
Licensing, Significant Audio Enhancements, DAISY2Go and Support for
Quickword
Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN) today announced the
availability of TALKS&ZOOMS 4.0,
Nuance Mobile’s assistive software that converts displayed text on a
handset into highly intelligible speech and magnified content for blind
or visually impaired mobile consumers. The latest version of TALKS&ZOOMS
features a new text-to-speech (TTS) audio system for Series 60
third-edition phones that enables users to look up or enter contacts,
find notes, access and update calendar appointments, manage multiple
calls, mute and hold calls, and more – all while the phone is already
being used for a call.
With Nuance’s TALKS&ZOOMS, blind and visually impaired users are able to
take advantage of the many features found on today’s popular mobile
phones, including contact directories, caller ID, text messaging, help
files, access to Web browsers, and other screen content. And TALKS&ZOOMS
4.0 enables consumers to choose the TTS software they want to use to
power all updated features, including Nuance’s trusted Vocalizer Mobile
and ETI-Eloquence.
In addition to the new robust advanced audio capabilities, TALKS&ZOOMS
4.0 also features:
-
SIM-Based Licensing: TALKS&ZOOMS can now be licensed for a GSM
SIM card, offering users the freedom to leverage the software on as
many handsets as they like where the same SIM card is used.
Alternatively, TALKS&ZOOMS can still be licensed to a handset, used
with an unlimited amount of SIM cards.
-
DAISY2Go Audio Book Player: TALKS&ZOOMS 4.0 includes DAISY2Go,
a Digital Accessible Information SYstem’s (DAISY) text and audio book
player that enables users to read content right from their mobile
phone. DAISY books have the benefits of regular audio books, but they
offer extras, like embedded navigation information, enhanced content,
and synchronization.
