Donates $75K in Furnishings for Hurricane Victims
(NYSE:ETH) Ethan
Allen joined Al Roker, of NBC’s “The Today
Show,” and several other companies in Galveston, TX this morning to
take part in the biggest day ever in ‘Lend a Hand’ history and to donate
a collective $540,000 worth of products to local charity Help4Galveston.
Ethan
Allen proudly partnered with the show’s annual ‘Lend a Hand’
goodwill road trip this year, donating $75,000 worth of
furnishings—including mattresses, beds, dressers, dining tables and
chairs, sleeper sofas, upholstered chairs, coffee tables, end tables,
outdoor furniture, and lighting—to aid Help4Galveston,
a group of local, state, regional, and national agencies, businesses,
organizations, communities, and individuals, working together to help
the city and county of Galveston, Texas, repair, restore, and rebuild
after the utter devastation of Hurricane Ike in 2008.
Today, the Ethan
Allen truck rolled into Galveston to deliver the furnishings, and
brought along a special surprise for Miss Marie, a spirited senior who
chose not to abandon the house her father built, when the storm hit. One
of Miss Marie’s favorite pastimes before the hurricane was sitting on
her front porch, but afterward, she was left with only a rusty chair.
“Our friends at ‘Lend a Hand’ filled us in on the situation, and we were
thrilled to bring Miss Marie some stylish and comfortable new outdoor
furniture. We trust she will enjoy it for many years to come,” said
November Rawlings of Ethan
Allen.
Ethan Allen’s Executive Vice President of Style, Nora Murphy, said “A
home is a sanctuary where family and friends can meet, relax, and
celebrate life’s milestones. It’s gratifying to know that our donation
will play a part in helping these deserving families rebuild their homes
and their lives. We are very grateful to have been given this
opportunity to help our neighbors in need.”
