to help small-business owners in Oregon provide their employees with the
ultimate in choice and flexibility in their health insurance coverage.
“Typically, small-business owners offer their employees one health plan
for all employees and pay a set premium each month,” said Kevin Meier,
director of Small Group Sales at Health Net of Oregon. With Enhanced
Choice, small-business owners can affordably make more than two dozen
health plans – all the plans, or any combination of the plans –
available to their employees.
Helping Employers During the Down Economy
Health Net listened to the needs of insurance agents and employers who
wanted a simple solution to stretch their premium dollars during the
down economy, Meier said. And agents and employers also wanted
personalized, easy-to-use plans built with individual members’ needs in
mind.
With Enhanced Choice, employers can pay a fixed dollar amount within
their budget and allow their employees the freedom to increase their
contribution in order to get the health plans they truly want and need.
For example, some employees may want a plan that is rich in benefits,
while some may only want coverage for catastrophic conditions, and
others may prefer something in the middle.
“This is a creative solution that puts small-business owners in the
driver’s seat and makes it easy for them to provide their employees with
health insurance,” said Meier.
