Aetna Inc. (NYSE: AET) today announced that it has been presented with
an “Above and Beyond” Award by the Connecticut Employer Support of the
Guard and Reserve (CT-ESGR, Inc.). The company also has been nominated
for the 2009 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the

“Aetna is honored to receive this award for its support of employees who
are serving our country at this critical time,” said Susan M. Peters,
president of Aetna Government Health Plans.
The mission of the Connecticut Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve
(CT-ESGR, Inc.) is to gain and maintain employer support of the men and
women serving in the Guard and Reserve. ESGR is committed to assist
employers as well as their employees by providing free education,
counseling, and if necessary, mediation to ensure that both the employer
and employee are in compliance with the existing federal Uniformed
