Healthways Awarded Gold Level Award, One of 63 Businesses Honored
Healthways, Inc. (NASDAQ: HWAY) has been honored by the National
Business Group on Health (NBGH) as one of the nation’s leading promoters
of a healthy workplace for helping employees and their families make
better choices about health and well-being.
Healthways was among 63 employers to receive the Best Employers for
Healthy Lifestyles award at the Joint Summit of the Institutes on
Health Care Costs and Solutions & the Costs and Health Effects of
Obesity, held in Washington, D.C. Healthways received a Gold Award for
its Move to Health program.
“Healthways’ mission is to enable everyone to achieve their personal
best health,” said Chris Cigarran, Healthways senior vice president of
human resources. “While providing these best-in-class programs and
solutions to others is what we do as a company, we take great pride in
providing for and inspiring our own colleagues to better health as well.
We are pleased our Move to Health program has been so successful,
and that it was granted this important recognition.”
“As one of 63 companies recognized this year for their employee health
and wellness programs, Healthways is at the vanguard of a national
movement to promote a system-wide culture of health emphasizing
prevention, exercise, and eating right,” said Helen Darling, president
of the National Business Group on Health. “More than ever, a healthy
workforce is critical to helping America’s large employers compete in
the global marketplace. Healthways is to be applauded for making health
and wellness an integral part of their workplace.”
To drive sustained engagement, Move to Health focuses on four
factors for success: a healthy workplace culture, purposeful
communications, a meaningful plan design and incentives. Highlights
include: health assessments and biometric screenings; access to a
national fitness center network; personalized coaching; QuitNet®
smoking cessation; discounts to alternative practitioners; online
support communities and incentives for healthy activities funded in a
health reimbursement account. Program effectiveness is measured in part
through utilization of the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index™ survey.
“Healthways’ Move to Health program has inspired a culture of
wellness and change by encouraging colleagues to engage in sustainable,
healthier lifestyle choices,” said Amy Moore, Healthways director of
benefits and wellness.
