LONDON, Jul. 3, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- London's leading share index was relatively flat by midday on Friday as rises in the banking sector were countered by falls sought by miners.
Barclays, HSBC (NYSE:HBC) , Lloyds and RBS were all early winners, while Kazakhmys was the biggest faller on the index as lower commodity prices weighed on miners.
The FTSE 100 index was up by 7.81 points, or 0.18 percent, at 4,242.08 points at 12:50 GMT.
