Tiger Woods leads PGA event by 1 shot
Friday, July 03, 2009 7:56 PM

At 10-under 130, Woods leads Rod Pampling of Australia, who shot 6-under 64 and is in second place.

"Either I hit it pretty close to the hole, within 10 feet, or I was missing greens," said Woods, who founded the Fourth of July Weekend tournament in 2008. The National is played on the normally difficult Blue Course at the Congressional Country Club to benefit Woods's foundation and pay tribute to members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

At 8-under 132 and alone in third is defending champion Anthony Kim (70), while Jim Furyk (67) is 7-under 133, alone in fourth.

The cut line was 2-over 142. Among the golfers missing it were World No. 3 Paul Casey (144) and 2007 AT&T champion K.J. Choi (146).
