WASHINGTON -- The Organization of American States (OAS) late Saturday suspended Honduras' membership after the Central American country ignored an OAS ultimatum to reinstate coup ousted President Manuel Zelaya.

A special session of the OAS general assembly held here passed a resolution to immediately suspend the post-coup government in Honduras. (OAS-Honduras)

KABUL -- Unknown armed men kidnapped a dozen employees of a de-mining company MDC in Paktia province, east of Afghanistan, an official said Sunday.

"Twelve employees of MDC were kidnapped from Wachshakh area, outside the provincial capital Gerdez, late Saturday," deputy to provincial governor Wakil Abdul Rahman told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Deminers)

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Barack Obama invoked the "spirit of America" to advocate his domestic agenda in his weekly radio and Internet address broadcasted on Saturday, which is the country's Independence Day.

COTABATO, the Philippines -- Two people were killed while a dozen others were injured as a home-made bomb exploded at a Catholic church in the Muslims-dominating southern Philippines Sunday morning, local police sources reported.

An initial police report said the blast hit the Cotabato Cathedral at around 8:40 a.m. (1240 GMT) when people were coming out of the church after the mass. (Philippines-Blast)
