Egypt, Us Discuss Means of Promoting Economic Cooperation

(Source: Info-Prod Research (Middle East))trackingAccording to Egypt State Information Service: Minister of Investment Mahmoud Mohieddin conferred Friday 3/7/2009 with US Ambassador in Cairo Margaret Scobey. The meeting took up means of boosting joint cooperation, particularly in the field of investment. Reviewing economic developments in Egypt, Mohieddin said the growth rate is expected at 4.5 percent despite the world economic recession, attributing the growth to several factors including economic diversification. Structural economic reforms that are being carried out by the government will continue, said the minister. He noted that the financial reforms that were made during the period from 2005 to 2008 protected the economy from the effect of the international economic meltdown. Further economic reforms will be made, Mohieddin said. For her part, the US ambassador said Washington was keen on promoting cooperation with Egypt.
