SPX to Supply Dry Cooling Systems for Two Power Plants in China

(Source: Datamonitor)trackingSPX, a US-based provider of engineered solutions to the energy industry, has announced that the Chinese subsidiaries of its thermal equipment and services division have secured two contracts worth approximately $66 million to provide dry cooling systems utilizing air cooled condensers to the YuanYangHu and ShangDu-3 power plants in China.

The YuanYangHu and ShangDu-3 power plants are expected to be operational by the end of 2010, and the delivery of SPX's equipment to the plants is scheduled to commence in October 2009 and March 2010 respectively.

The YuanYangHu power plant is owned and operated by the subsidiaries of the Shandong Luneng Group, a company engaged in power and coal mining business. The ShangDu-3 facility is owned and operated by the Northern United Power Company.

Including the new contracts, SPX was awarded a total of five dry cooling system contracts in China during the first half of 2009 at an average value of approximately $30 million.
