(Source: Business Wire)trackingICAP Ocean Tomo -- a division of ICAP (IAP.L), the world's premier interdealer broker -- today announced it will offer for sale a desirable portfolio of patents and patent applications held by Siemens AG, a global electronics and electrical engineering company, on July 23rd in Chicago at The ICAP Ocean Tomo Summer IP Markets 2009 Auction & Conference with essential information regarding all lots available immediately online at http://catalog.oceantomoauctions.com.

The Siemens lot comprises over twenty patents and patent applications relating to data networking and data processing. Conventional data processing and networking systems suffer from multiple problems. Specifically, conventional memory accessing techniques either provide unrestricted access to memory by user program code, thereby making processing system vulnerable to wrong system code, or implement dedicated hardware based authorized memory access. Further, conventional voltage regulation techniques employ separate additional transistors other than the integrated circuits (ICs). Also, conventional internet protocols do not ensure quality data transmission while transmitting with non uniform data rate and they do not take care of setting up adequate buffer for smooth viewing of videos.

The patents and patent applications included in the auction provide solutions to these problems. The '858 patent provides secured memory access conveniently through software, thereby providing cost savings on hardware. To improve on the requirement for additional transistors, the '523 patent provides for a charge pump within the IC for linear voltage regulation preventing the supply voltage from falling below the critical value. To improve data transmission quality, the '736 patent provides a mechanism which ensures adequate bandwidth is reserved and buffer is maintained for receiving data.

"Assets in this lot will be of interest to any business entity engaged in designing, building, selling or using data processing and networking systems" said Dean Becker of ICAP Ocean Tomo, "and should be extremely valuable for companies looking to improve their data networking and processing patent portfolios today."

The technology being sold has been cited as prior art in patents by numerous firms including Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ), Toshiba Corp. (TSE:6502), Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE), and Micron Technology Inc. (NYSE:MU)
