dataMate Products, a division of Methode Electronics, Inc., has announced the introduction of its new Smart DAC-Direct Attach Cable product line as an on-going expansion of its line of high speed over copper data transfer solutions. The Smart DAC offers a quick, cost-effective means of connecting point-to-point in high-speed data transfer networks.

The Smart DAC replaces very costly optical modules with a significantly lower cost per connection point solution. The cost savings, estimated at up to 50% per connection, would save OEMs, integrators and end users hundreds of dollars per connection. The cables operate at up to a 10 Gig data rate. Standard product is available in active XFP to active XFP, active XFP to passive SFP+, and passive SFP+ to passive SFP+ configurations. Standard length cables of 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10 meters are immediately available. Custom lengths or configurations to meet customer specific applications are also available from dataMate.
