MWV Consumer & Office Products (NYSE:MWV) today announced it has
received Chain of Custody certification to the Sustainable Forestry
Initiative® (SFI) program, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the
Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC), as
well as SFI fiber sourcing certification. The certifications provide
third-party validation of MWV’s sustainable fiber sourcing practices and
help to assure our customers and consumers of the company’s responsible
environmental stewardship.
Chain of custody is the process of tracking and recording the possession
and transfer of wood fiber from the forest of origin, through
manufacture, production and processing stages and, ultimately, to its
end use.
MWV supports multiple chain of custody certification systems and
implements programs that ensure an economic supply of certified paper
and paperboard.
“These certifications help customers identify those products that meet
their environmental demands, and provide trusted third-party validation
of the company’s sustainable business practices,” said Neil McLachlan,
president, MWV Consumer & Office Products. “We are committed to being
good stewards of the environment and responsible business partners.”
These four certifications cover the MWV Consumer & Office Products
business units, including the Consumer Products Group (CPG), Hilroy, and
the Office Products Group (OPG). The Envelope Products Group (EPG) and
Tilibra received similar certifications earlier this year.
