Up to 73% Smaller and 45% Thinner Than the Competition, Intersil's New ISL12057/8/9 Simplify Design of Utility E-Meters, Multifunction Printers, Digital Photo Frames and Many Other Devices
MILPITAS, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/14/09 -- Intersil
Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and
manufacture of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors,
today introduced three tiny,
razor-thin real-time clock (RTC) products that are ideal for low-voltage
and portable applications.
The smallest of these breakthrough products, the ISL12057
and
ISL12058, require just 2mm x 2mm, a 73% reduction in board space versus
their closest competitors. And at only 0.55mm thick, these new 8-lead
devices are 45% percent thinner than similar products on the market. The
ISL12057 is available in this 2mm x 2mm
8-lead µTDFN plastic package, which offers enhanced ruggedness and
durability in portable applications. For added design versatility, the
devices are also available in a 3mm x 3mm 8-lead TDFN, and popular MSOP and
SOIC package choices.
In addition, the ISL12058 offers package choices in the 2mm x 2mm µTDFN,
3mm x 3mm TDFN,
8-lead MSOP and 8-lead SOIC options.
The
ISL12059 is available in the industry-standard SOIC package.
With operation from 1.4V to 3.6V, these new RTCs are ideally suited for
battery-powered, portable applications such as remote utility meters,
copy/fax/scanner/printers, digital photo albums and hundreds of other
applications.
The real time clock and calendar uses an external 32.768 kHz crystal that
tracks time by date, year, months, week, and hour, minute or seconds.
Multiple selectable alarms allow a flexibility of alarm choices, with
outputs for beepers or lights. The calendar is accurate through 2099, with
automatic leap-year correction.
