Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:NCI), an international consulting firm
providing dispute, investigative, operational, risk management and
financial advisory solutions to legal counsel, government agencies and
companies experiencing regulatory or structural challenges, announced
today the appointment of Michael L. Tipsord, Vice Chairman, Chief
Financial Officer and Treasurer of State Farm Insurance Companies, to
serve an initial term on Navigant’s Board of Directors in the class of
directors whose term expires in 2010.
“Mr. Tipsord brings to the Navigant Board a deep and proven financial
management background as well as leadership experience in a
multi-billion dollar enterprise,” stated William M. Goodyear, Chairman
and Chief Executive Officer. “Mr. Tipsord’s background will complement
the current Navigant Board with his strong experience over the last 20
years at State Farm Insurance in areas including finance administration,
investment management, marketplace compliance and the overall management
of strategic resources.”
Mr. Tipsord joined State Farm in 1988 as Assistant Tax Counsel and over
the past 20 years has advanced through the organization holding
positions including Director of Accounting, Vice President and Treasurer
and, for the past seven years as Chief Financial Officer. In addition to
his financial management responsibilities, Mr. Tipsord has also been
responsible for managing State Farm’s strategic operating planning
process, launching and integrating the Financial Services product
portfolio and providing leadership during a PeopleSoft Integration.
Today he serves as a Director of several State Farm affiliated
companies, and is on the Board of The Brookings Institution, Illinois
Wesleyan University and the University of Illinois College of Law.
