Pioneering Service to Use A.D.A.M. Health Content and Solutions to
Help Mobile Consumers and Website Visitors Better Understand Their
Healthcare Issues and Symptoms
A.D.A.M.,
Inc. (Nasdaq: ADAM) today announced that CallMD,
the premier website for instant access to medical advice, diagnosis and
treatments from a nationwide network of licensed nurses and physicians,
has licensed the A.D.A.M. Multimedia
Encyclopedia and Symptom
Navigator for its new website. CallMD has also joined the inaugural
group of partners in A.D.A.M.’s Medzio Mobile Health Network.
CallMD consists of a nationwide network of physicians and nurses across
a wide range of medical specialties that provide phone-based medical
advice and guidance whenever and wherever a patient needs it in a
cost-effective and time-efficient manner. Their services help people
understand when they can self-treat, when they need a referral, and when
they should visit an emergency room. The addition of the A.D.A.M. health
content will allow CallMD to attract visitors to their website by
becoming a one-stop-shop for consumers looking for health information
and physician counsel.
A.D.A.M.’s Symptom Navigator will be used by site visitors to get
information about what their symptoms may mean, and also by the CallMD
nurses as part of their triage assessment. The A.D.A.M. Multimedia
Encyclopedia will be available at no cost to all registered members of
the CallMD site and selected health articles will be free to all site
visitors.
“Mobile consumers use our service because the traditional health
services and nurse lines just don’t work for them anymore,” said Curt
McCallister, vice president of medical programs at CallMD. “We selected
A.D.A.M. after evaluating several consumer health information providers
and found the A.D.A.M. content and tools to be unsurpassed. We were also
looking for a partner that could provide more than just health articles,
and A.D.A.M.’s Symptom Navigator web and mobile device tools allow us to
provide additional information to our clinicians. We were especially
excited to be able to partner with them on the Medzio iPhone
application, which we believe will have a huge impact on the way people
seek and receive care.”
“The CallMD service and the A.D.A.M. health content and solutions are a
perfect partnership because they share a common goal - to give people
immediate access to information and help them understand their medical
issues and options,” said Kevin Noland, president and chief executive
officer at A.D.A.M.
