Third Rock Ventures Expands Team With Biotech Veterans

Reilly, M.D., as Venture Partner, Gregory L. Verdine, Ph.D., as Venture Partner, and Craig M. Greaves as Recruiting Partner.

Philip R. Reilly, M.D., is an accomplished entrepreneur and renowned clinician who has dedicated his career to pioneering new treatments for genetic disorders. From 2000 to 2006 Dr. Reilly served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Interleukin Genetics, Inc, a publicly traded biotech company (AMEX:ILI) which focused on developing DNA based risk tests associated with variations in the interleukin-1 gene. Prior to joining Interleukin Genetics, Dr. Reilly was the Executive Director of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center for Mental Retardation, Inc. a not-for-profit organization in Massachusetts, a position he had held since 1990. The author of six books and author or co-author of more than 100 articles in scholarly journals, Dr. Reilly has held numerous teaching positions including assistant professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, assistant professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, and adjunct professor of both Legal Studies and Biology at Brandeis University. He is currently a trustee of Cornell University and was a visiting professor at Cornell in the fall of 2008. Dr. Reilly was twice (2000 and 2003) president of the American Society of Law, Medicine, and Ethics, an organization that numbers several thousand members. From 1994 to 1997, he served on the board of directors of the American Society for Human Genetics. Board certified in internal medicine and clinical genetics, he earned his M.D.
