Zale Corporation (NYSE: ZLC), a leading specialty retailer of fine
jewelry in North America, today announced that Richard A. Lennox has
been named Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer of the
Company, effective August 17, 2009. Mr. Lennox will report to Neal
Goldberg, Chief Executive Officer.

experience in marketing and business development make him a great
addition to our team,” said Mr. Goldberg. “Richard has an impressive
10-year track record of diamond product innovation through setting
industry trends such as Three-Stone Jewelry, The Right Hand Ring and
Journey. Richard will play a pivotal role in evolving our marketing
program and creating a more aspirational feel for our jewelry.”
Mr. Lennox, age 44, joins Zale from J. Walter Thompson-New York, where
he served as Executive Vice President and Director of the De Beers Group
“A diamond is forever” marketing campaign since 1998. He was the
principal architect of programs that helped grow US diamond jewelry
sales significantly over the last ten years. Mr. Lennox has received
many accolades, including eight Effies awards for marketing
effectiveness and was recognized as one of Ad Age’s fifty most
influential US marketers in 2001.
Mr. Lennox started at JWT in 1989 and has held various senior level
marketing positions within the company. He began his career in 1987 with
AGB-London and is a graduate of the University of Reading.
