Two ANADIGICS PAs Selected for World's First HD Recording and 8 Megapixel Image Capture 3G Handsets From Samsung
WARREN, NJ -- (Marketwire) -- 07/23/09 -- ANADIGICS, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANAD) today
announced that two of its WCDMA power amplifiers (PAs) have been chosen by
Samsung to power the manufacturer's new Omnia HD and Memoir 3G handsets.
ANADIGICS' AWT6224 3G power
amplifier device has been selected for use in Samsung's new full
touchscreen Omnia HD, the world's first mobile handset to offer HD video
recording, while the AWT6282 has been chosen to power the 8 megapixel,
Memoir handset.
Launched in May 2009 in Asia and Europe, the Omnia HD is already one of
Samsung's top selling phones. In addition to being the first mobile handset
to offer 720p 23fps HD video recording, the Omnia HD features a 3.7 inch,
full touchscreen display and supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth operations.
Samsung's Memoir, which was first announced at this year's Mobile World
Congress, is a 3G, full touchscreen handset that closely resembles a point
and shoot camera in both design and functionality. As well as capturing 8
megapixel images, the Memoir offers 16x digital zoom, five different
shooting modes, and is driven by Samsung's new TouchWiz user interface.
"We are extremely proud to have worked alongside Samsung's design team on
two of their highest profile new 3G multimedia handsets," reports Mario
Rivas, the president and CEO at ANADIGICS, Inc.
