INX, Inc., (NASDAQ:INXI
- News)
announced today it has been awarded a $1.75 million dollar contract from
the Washington State Department of Ecology for a communication
infrastructure upgrade.
Washington State Department of Ecology ("Ecology") has awarded INX the
contract to develop and design a new communications network for their
Lacey, WA headquarters location. The existing data network was beginning
to show signs of instability and deemed in need of replacement and
updates. Ecology is pursuing a next-generation infrastructure that meets
current industry-standard best practices and brings high levels of fault
tolerance, reliability and scalability to their mission critical
applications.
The network design is based on Cisco technology and the next-generation
Nexus Switches at the core to provide high-availability and redundancy
to the network as well as a high level of resiliency at the edge. With
the increase in the adoption of virtualization technology, the network
architecture will leverage the latest developments in switching
infrastructure to support virtualization strategies at Ecology for
future scalability. Parallel initiatives are underway to virtualize many
of the servers in the Ecology network. As a result, INX is recommending
an infrastructure based on 10-GE technology that will help to
future-proof Ecology’s investment.
Jim French, Ecology Network Manager said Washington State Department of
Ecology chose INX “because their infrastructure and data center
expertise was coupled with a delivery framework that produces business
results while reducing overall project risk.”
This contract began July 2009 and is slated to finish in the October
2009 timeframe and represents $1.75 million dollars in revenue for INX.
