General Electric Co., up 85 cents at $13.11

Goldman Sachs upgraded the industrial conglomerate to "Buy," saying it won't have to split off its financing arm, GE Capital.

Motorola Inc., up 62 cents at $7.19

Revenue fell in the second quarter, but the electronics maker posted a surprising profit based on heavy cost cuts and a cheery outlook.

Sony Corp., up $2.46 at $27.28

Cost cuts helped lead the electronics and media giant to a smaller-than-expected loss, but it stuck to its forecast for a second annual loss.

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., up $2.03 at $16.99

The insurer's second-quarter adjusted profit topped analysts' expectations as rising stock markets boosted its mutual fund business.

Omnicare Inc., down $3.76 at $23.47

The company, which distributes drugs to nursing homes, cut its profit outlook for the year below Wall Street estimates.

Symantec Corp., down $2.46 at $14.78

The security software maker's fiscal first-quarter revenue fell short of Wall Street expectations as corporate customers scaled back.

Level 3 Communications Inc., down 20 cents at $1.42

The Internet networking services provider posted a wider second-quarter loss and saw falling sales. It cut its outlook for the year.

Akamai Technologies Inc., down $3.89 at $16.51

The Internet services company boosted profit and customer count in the second quarter, but analysts worried about pricing and sales growth.
