The San Francisco Giants Lead the League in Environmental
Stewardship
The San Francisco Giants are committed to making AT&T Park the most
environmentally-friendly ballpark in the country. To that end, the
organization is pursuing a number of initiatives, including a
partnership with Canon Business Solutions-NEWCAL, Inc. to help reduce
their carbon footprint in the area of document management.
Canon Business Solutions-NEWCAL, Inc. proposed right-sizing the Giants
fleet of single-function document management devices, such as printers,
copiers, scanners, and fax machines, to multi-functional devices. The
result will be a significant reduction in energy usage and printing
costs as well as a dramatic improvement in organizational efficiency.
“We are very pleased to partner with the Giants to upgrade their
document management and workflow at AT&T Park,” said Steve Tarpley,
president, Canon Business Solutions-NEWCAL, Inc. “The San Francisco
Giants have a well-deserved reputation for being ahead of the curve with
technology implementation. Deployment of a Canon imageRUNNER MFP fleet
dovetails nicely with their goals of greater efficiencies and reduced
impact on the environment. We look forward to working with the Giants
for many years to come.”
“The San Francisco Giants are committed to investing in technology that
furthers our business objectives and enhances the experience for fans
and staff at AT&T Park,” comments Giants’ CIO Bill Schlough. “Our
partnership with Canon Business Solutions-NEWCAL, Inc. has enabled us to
eliminate legacy hardware, reduce costs and increase productivity with
their advanced multi-function devices. This partnership has been a grand
slam for the Giants.”
About the San Francisco Giants and AT&T Park
The San Francisco Giants of the National League are one of the oldest
franchises in Major League Baseball. Boasting a 126-year history, the
team moved to San Francisco from New York in 1958, playing a total of 42
years in Seals Stadium and Candlestick Park before moving into their
current home at AT&T Park in 2000.
Since opening its gates in 2000, AT&T Park has become
internationally-renowned as a premier venue in the world of both sports
and entertainment. On the diamond, more than 28 million spectators have
witnessed a trio of playoff appearances, the 2002 World Series and a
bevy of magical moments. Barry Bonds established his own historical
stage on the shores of McCovey Cove, from his record-setting 71st
home run in 2001 to the all-time home run record (762 HRs) in 2007.
