The Hospital of Central Connecticut, which performs 200,000 radiology procedures per year, is comprised of the 330-bed general campus in New Britain, the 84-bed Bradley Memorial campus in Southington, and six outpatient imaging satellites serving several hundred physicians throughout central Connecticut. As a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery and a wide variety of specialties.

"We are pleased to be taking our imaging services to the next level with AMICAS," said Sidney Ulreich MD, chief radiologist, department of radiology at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. "We needed a partner that could help us with complicated workflow problems like managing emergency department discrepancies and critical results - and we found that AMICAS' approach to solving these problems was precisely what our hospital needed."

"In addition, AMICAS PACS provides an impressive suite of tools - including intrinsic 3D and mammography - for our radiologists and other clinicians," said Dr. Ulreich. "These tools will help us provide efficient and high quality care to our patients."

"AMICAS will help us to 'close the loop' on several important workflow challenges," said Ted Lombardo, director of radiology at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. "In addition, AMICAS Reach will allow us to provide proactive delivery of radiology reports and images to physicians who do not have access to our hospital network - and this will allow us to offer our services to physicians outside our typical service area."

Under the terms of the agreement, the hospital will utilize new, Web-based technology for integrated reading, productivity, and critical results management initiatives. Included in the agreement are AMICAS PACS(TM), AMICAS Reach(TM), and AMICAS RadStream(TM) solutions.

AMICAS PACS drives significant improvements in radiologist productivity while enabling improvements in the quality of care.
