SAN DIEGO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/04/09 -- Cubic Defense Applications, the defense systems business of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), reported that its Communications business unit has received multiple orders for power amplifiers, communications receivers and DF (Direction Finding) systems this fiscal year.

Cubic's largest order is from long-time customer Rockwell Collins of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Under a new three-year contract worth more than $8 million, Cubic will supply multiple 4 kilowatt power amplifiers for the U.S. Coast Guard as well as 1 Kw power amplifiers for domestic and international customers. Deliveries begin in August 2009.

Rockwell Collins of Richardson, Texas, placed a $2 million-plus order for power amplifiers for the U.S. Air Force and Navy High Frequency Global Communications System (HFGCS). This equipment is scheduled for delivery in August 2009.

Cubic also has received orders from Argon ST for multiple sets of receivers for delivery by September 2009. Argon is the prime contractor for Ship's Signal Exploitation Equipment (SSEE) Increment E, which is the most modern and extensive communications intelligence system that is deployed on U.S. Navy surface ships. This contract has resulted in orders of nearly $6 million over the past few years.

Cubic continues to see strong demand for its direction finding processors and antennas in international markets. Over $2 million in orders of these products have been received expected from large customers, including the French Army. DF systems are used in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and support allied forces in their overseas missions.
