Agreement paves the way for Lionsgate movies to be available in the high-quality DivX(R) format
SAN DIEGO and SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- DivX, Inc. (Nasdaq: DIVX), a digital media company, and Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), the leading next generation studio, today announced a format approval agreement that will enable online retailers worldwide to offer Lionsgate films for secure download in the high-quality DivX(R) video format. This agreement paves the way for consumers to have the freedom to watch their favorite Lionsgate movies on millions of DivX Certified(R) devices that have shipped worldwide, including digital TVs, Blu-ray players, and a variety of mobile devices.

The multi-year agreement covers the full digital catalog of Lionsgate content, including both standard definition and high definition titles available in the Lionsgate digital library. Lionsgate has captured a significant share of the North American theatrical box office with a diverse portfolio of movies that span such recent hits as the comedy Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail, dramas such as 3:10 to Yuma, action movies including Forbidden Kingdom and horror films like the Saw franchise, My Bloody Valentine 3-D and The Haunting In Connecticut.

DivX is working with online stores in the United States and Europe to make Lionsgate films available to consumers. Full-length movies in the DivX format can be quickly downloaded from a video-on-demand (VOD) site and played on the more than 200 million DivX devices shipped into the market.
