NYSE

PepsiCo Inc., up $2.86 at $59.06

The beverage giant is buying its two biggest bottlers for $7.8 billion in order to get new products onto shelves quicker and cut costs.

Archer Daniels Midland Co., down $1.58 at $28.81

The agribusiness company said profit tumbled 83 percent in its fiscal fourth quarter as sales slid, hurt by lower prices and demand.

Domtar Inc., up $4.96 at $24.09

The pulp and paper maker said demand for paper products in the second quarter grew for the first time since early 2008, a sign of recovery.

Orbitz Worldwide Inc., up 60 cents at $3.73

Shares of the online travel booker rose strongly for the second straight day following an upgrade to "Buy" from a Benchmark Equity analyst.

Herbalife Ltd., down $4.47 at $31.30

The nutritional supplement provider said sales and profit were both lower in its second quarter and narrowed its guidance for the year.

PPL Corp., down $4.48 at $29.50

The energy and utility holding company cut its profit outlook for 2010 and posted second-quarter results that were worse than expected.

NASDAQ

Human Genome Sciences Inc., up 73 cents at $14.98

Shares of the biotechnology company hit a six-year high after an analyst upgraded the stock to "Buy," citing the potential of its lupus drug.

UAL Corp., up 79 cents at $5

The parent company of United Airlines said traffic declined 4 percent in July, a narrower drop than June's 7.5 percent.
