TRW Automotive Holdings has reported a GAAP net loss of $11 million or $0.11 per diluted share in the second quarter of 2009, compared to net earnings of $127 million or $1.24 per diluted share in the second quarter of 2008.
The company's total sales for the second quarter of 2009 were $2.7 billion, a decrease of 38.6%, compared to $4.45 billion in the same quarter of 2008.
For the first half of 2009, the company has reported a GAAP net loss of $142 million or $1.40 per diluted share, compared to net earnings of $221 million or $2.16 per diluted share in the same period of 2008.
The company has reported total sales of $5.1 billion in the first half of 2009, a decrease of 40.4%, compared to $8.6 billion in the first half of 2008.
John Plant, president and CEO of the company, said: "The restructuring and cost containment actions implemented over the previous three quarters had a significant positive impact on TRW's second quarter results and helped offset the effects of the reduced vehicle production levels."
