HERNDON, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/05/09 -- RCN
Corporation (NASDAQ: RCNI), a leading provider of all-digital and high
definition video, high-speed internet, and premium voice services to residential and small-medium
business customers, in Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley, PA, New York, Boston,
Chicago, and Washington, D.C., as well as high-capacity transport services to
carrier and large enterprise customers, announced today changes to
MiVisión, its current Spanish-language channel offering.
The company will now offer a MiVisión Plus package and a MiVisión Lite
package. MiVisión Plus has the same robust channel offering as the current
MiVisión package and the price also remains the same at $22.95/mo. MiVisión
Lite is a new package created for people who want great Spanish-language
programming but at a lower price. MiVisión Lite is only $12.00/mo and does
not contain ESPN Deportes and Gol TV.
"RCN chose to proactively create MiVisión, our Hispanic-oriented
programming tier in 2006 to benefit its Spanish-speaking customers by
addressing the group's diverse heritage, culture, and strong sense of
family," said Richard Ramlall, RCN Senior Vice President, Strategic
External Affairs & Programming. "We're proud to be an industry leader in
offering a customized line up of Spanish-content themed packages and by
offering two separate MiVisión packages we provide even more choice to get
the services customers need and want."
Ramlall added that current MiVisión customers will see no difference in
service or their current price. The two new packages will be marketed to
new acquisitions only. MiVisión Plus will continue to provide the current
30 channels offered and will continue to grow its Hispanic-themed content.
MiVisión Lite does not include ESPN Deportes or Gol TV and may not include
future Spanish-channel additions.
