Aug. 6--Things are starting to slowly right themselves in the financial area of the Connellsville Township/Bullskin Township Joint Sewage Authority.
At a meeting Wednesday, Leo Rudnik Jr. with Kisiel & Rudnik, certified public accounts, went over the authority's 2008 audit.
"We found no major things wrong as far as the numbers, but we did note that no budget was adopted in 2008," Rudnik said. "You need to adopt a budget. You don't have to worry about it for 2008, but you need to make sure to do that this year."
From 2007 to 2008 the authority's revenues increased about $46,000 in receivables due to additional customers and back billing. Operating revenues were also up from $445,000 to $512,000. Net assets also grew from $669,000 to $815,000.
In other business, authority engineer Glenn Wolfe with Widmer Engineering gave an update on funding for Phase II and Phase III sewage projects in Bullskin.
Phase II would bring sewage lines to Bullskin residents along Johnson Lane, Dry Hill Road, East End Road, Skate Lane, Longanecker Road, Richey Road and Pleasant Valley Road areas.
Along Johnson Lane, East End Road and Dryhill Road gravity sewers will be installed in public and private rights-of-way and connect to the existing system at the intersection of Johnson Lane and Route 119. The sewage will be treated at the Connellsville Municipal Authority's existing treatment facility with a projected 192 residential Equivalent Dwelling Units.
Along Skate Lane, Longanecker Road and Richey Road, gravity sewers will be installed and connect to the existing system at both the intersection of Skate Lane and Route 119 and the intersection of Richey Road and Route 119. Sewage from this connection will also be treated at the Connellsville Municipal Authority's existing treatment facility with a projected 73 residential EDUs.
In the Pleasant Valley Road area, or Phase III, gravity sewers will be installed and will connect to the existing system near the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Route 119. Sewage from this connection will also be treated at the Connellsville Municipal Authority's existing treatment facility with a projected 114 residential EDUs and two commercial EDUs from Allegheny Power and Pleasant Valley Country Club.
Officials met with U.S. Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Rural Development several months ago to discuss the project and funding when the authority was given a list of about 60 items that needed to be addressed. Wolfe said those items are being addressed.
