NCI, Inc. (NASDAQ:NCIT), a leading provider of information technology
(IT), engineering, and professional services and solutions to U.S.
Federal Government agencies, is pleased to announce that it has been
awarded a task order worth an estimated $16.4 million from the Naval
Postgraduate School SMART Program Office. The task order has a one-year
base with four option years, with performance beginning August 1, 2009.
The primary places of performance include Monterey, CA; San Diego, CA;
Randolph AFB, TX; Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; and Arlington, VA.
This new task order expands NCI’s current business, as well as assumes
the work as the prime contractor. Previously, NCI was a subcontractor on
this work. This competitively awarded SeaPort-e IDIQ task order
approximately doubles the work for NCI.
Under this task order, NCI will support efforts to provide scholarships
to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in technical
fields to infuse the science and technology workforce of the Department
of Defense (DoD) with highly skilled science and engineering
professionals. While in school, participants serve as summer interns at
DoD laboratories and return to those labs after graduation to complete a
period of obligated employment service. NCI will assist the Naval
Postgraduate School (NPS) in its role as executive agent for the SMART
program to recruit candidates for this important Congressionally
mandated program.
“NCI is extremely pleased to have been selected by the Naval
Postgraduate School to bring new and talented professionals to the DoD
Laboratory workforce to further a longstanding legacy of delivering
critical capabilities to the Warfighter. These customers are very
important to us, and we are committed to delivering superb assistance in
this important endeavor,” said Terry Glasgow, NCI President.
