Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE:BBY) today announced the promotions of Barry
Judge to executive vice president, chief marketing officer, and Tim
Sheehan to executive vice president, enterprise retail operations. The
promotions were effective July 27, 2009.
Barry Judge
The promotion of Judge, age 46, reflects his responsibility for global
management of Best Buy’s portfolio of brands across all enterprise
channels. He oversees the transformation of Best Buy marketing into a
global capability that will be better positioned to support the
enterprise’s growth plans around the world.
“Barry is deeply passionate about Best Buy and has been a vocal advocate
about the need for our company to find new and innovative ways to grow,”
said Brian J. Dunn, Best Buy’s chief executive officer. “He has been the
driving force behind Best Buy’s innovative use of social media,
encouraging our employees across our multiple brands and channels to
create conversations and deeper relationships with our customers. I look
forward to seeing Barry use his influence to advance Best Buy’s brand
narrative across multiple borders and mediums.”
Judge joined Best Buy as a member of its e-commerce team in November
1999. He played an integral role in the launch of BestBuy.com and helped
pioneer the company’s multi-channel consumer marketing and direct
marketing efforts. In 2006, his role as senior vice president of
marketing expanded to include oversight of the company’s customer
research and development capability in order to facilitate increased
ingenuity in service of customers and focus on growth. He also gained
responsibility for marketing communications, internal communications,
public relations, public affairs and promotions at that time. He was
named Best Buy’s chief marketing officer in 2008.
Judge began his career at The Direct Marketing Group and held marketing
and management positions at Young & Rubicam, Coca Cola USA, The Quaker
Oats Company and the Pillsbury Company. He also served as vice president
of marketing for Caribou Coffee Company. Judge has a bachelor’s degree
from Brown University and a master’s degree in marketing from the J.L.
Kellogg School at Northwestern University.
Tim Sheehan
In his newly expanded role, Tim Sheehan, age 45, is working to evolve
the company’s current store support, operations and services into an
enterprise-wide capability that will support Best Buy’s brands and
channels across the globe.
