TOKOROZAWA, Japan - Toshiya Sugiuchi threw seven shutout innings and Hiroki Kokubo homered and scored three runs, leading the Softbank Hawks to a 4-1 win over the Seibu Lions on Sunday.

Volleyball: Japan downs Russia in women's World Grand Prix
OSAKA - Japan rallied from a set down to beat Russia 3-1 Sunday in the World Grand Prix women's volleyball tournament.
Japan improved its record to 3-3 with a 20-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-21 win at Osaka Municipal Gymnasium. Russia fell to 3-3.

Golf: Ueda wins AXA (NYSE:AXA) Ladies in 3-way playoff
TOMAKOMAI, Japan - U.S. LPGA player Momoko Ueda earned her eighth career title in Japan on Sunday, winning the AXA Ladies on the second hole of a three-way playoff.
Ueda tapped in for a birdie to beat South Korea's Lee Ji Hee on the second playoff hole -- the par-4 18th -- after hitting the pin with her second shot from about 130 yards in the right rough.

Baseball: Fukudome homers, drives in 2 runs in Cubs' win
DENVER - Kosuke Fukudome went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBIs as the Chicago Cubs rallied past the Colorado Rockies 6-5 on Saturday.
Fukudome had an RBI double down the left-field line in the fourth inning and homered to right off Jhoulys Chacin to push the Cubs' lead to 6-4 in the seventh at Coors Field.
