World Fuel Services, engaged in the marketing and sale of marine, aviation and land fuel products, has reported a net income of $27.7 million or $0.93 per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2009, compared to $20.5 million, or $0.71 per diluted share, for the same period of 2008.
The company has reported revenue of $2.53 billion for the second quarter of 2009, compared to $5.65 billion for the same quarter of 2008.
World Fuel Services has reported a net income of $53.57 million or $1.81 per diluted share, for the first six months of 2009, compared to $36.3 million, or $1.25 per diluted share, for the corresponding period of 2008.
Year-to-date revenue was $4.55 billion, compared to $10.14 billion for the first six months of 2008.
Paul Stebbins, chairman and CEO of World Fuel Services, said: "We again delivered solid results despite difficult economic conditions. Our operational efficiency continues to improve, providing us with significant operating leverage as the economy begins to recover."
