Joins initiatives in more than 300 locations nationwide to recognize and support the work of Community Health Centers to provide health care to the underserved

Theme of the Week is -- Celebrating America’s Health Centers:

Where ACCESS and QUALITY CARE Begin

Unison Health Plan of Ohio is sponsoring or participating in several events at community health centers in Ohio in support of National Health Center Week, August 9-15, led by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC).

The effort includes health information events, educational materials and recognition awards. We have detailed the activities in the material provided with this release.

“As a partner with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services in Covered Families and Children (CFC) and Aged, Blind or Disabled (ABD) Medicaid managed care and other government-sponsored health care programs, we are committed to improving access to quality, affordable health care for our most vulnerable populations in Ohio,” said Jeffrey Corzine, Executive Director.

Community Health Centers serve 18 million people at more than 7,000 sites nationwide, providing quality health care. This was documented recently in a study by The George Washington University Medical Center, focusing on CHCs supported by AmeriChoice corporate parent, UnitedHealth Group. The study concluded that CHCs can and do provide high-quality health care that equals or exceeds care provided in the private sector.
