Joins initiatives in more than 300 locations nationwide to
recognize and support the work of Community Health Centers to provide
health care to the underserved
Theme of the week is -- Celebrating America’s Health Centers:
Where ACCESS and QUALITY CARE Begin
UnitedHealthcare of Wisconsin’s Medicaid division is sponsoring and
participating in numerous events at community health centers throughout
Wisconsin in support of National Health Center Week, August 9-15, led by
the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC).
The effort includes sponsoring back-to-school health fairs, donating
school supplies, and recognizing various community health centers with
monetary donations to support Wisconsin’s Medicaid program.
“As a partner with the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services,
we are committed to improving access to quality, affordable health care
for BadgerCare Plus and SSI beneficiaries,” said Jeff Nohl, president of
AmeriChoice Wisconsin.
Community Health Centers serve 18 million people at more than 7,000
sites nationwide, providing quality health care. This was documented
recently in a study by The George Washington University Medical Center,
focusing on CHCs supported by AmeriChoice corporate parent, UnitedHealth
Group. The study concluded that CHCs can and do provide high-quality
health care that equals or exceeds care provided in the private sector.
