National Wind Solutions, Inc. (PinkSheets:NWND). The key to green energy is the ability to create power from sources that are renewable -- plant materials, natural oils, sun and wind. Now that NWND has closed the purchase of a fully operational biodiesel plant in Texas, it is ready to move toward the production of truly green and renewable bio-diesel fuel.
Bio-diesel can be produced from a number of different plant based oils such as algae, jatropha, palm oil or soybean oil. NWND will focus on using non-food source oils to produce its transportation fuels. Extensive research at universities around the world has advanced the ability to use common non-food sources such as algae to produce bio-diesel.
NWND expects to modernize the plant to reduce processing costs and to retrofit the plant to process less expensive feed stocks. Currently, nearly 70% of diesel used in the United States results from imported oil. NWND will seek to expand operations into other states by building on this initial technology platform in months ahead.
Exxon (NYSE: XOM) recently announced a $600 million algae fuels development program. Nova Biosource Fuels, (TOR: NBF) and Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ: CLNE) are competitors working to bring alternative green fuels to the American market.
