The 2009 Life Time Fitness Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike (MTB)
Race is the original and oldest 100-mile (160 km) Ultradistance MTB
event. The race begins and ends in the heart of Leadville, Colorado,
located 100 miles west of Denver. The 50-mile out-and-back course
comprises mostly dirt and double track dirt roads, and consists of
steep climbs and descents ranging from 10,200 feet to 12,620 feet.

HIGHLIGHTS:

|
Colorado native, Dave Wiens, has won the race every year since 2003.
In 2008, Wiens set a course record in front of second-place finisher
and seven-time Tour de France Champion, Lance Armstrong. Armstrong
returns to the field this year following his third-place finish in
the 2009 Tour de France.

More than 1,100 participants are registered. Approximately 65% of
participants are expected to finish within the event’s 12-hour time
limit and receive the coveted Leadville Trail 100 MTB belt buckle.
