Firm will Plan, Collect Data, and Analyze Results for National
Survey on Recreational Boating Safety for the U.S. Coast Guard
ICF Macro, a subsidiary of ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI), was awarded
a new contract valued at $15.2 million with the Department of Homeland
Security (DHS)/U.S. Coast Guard (USCG)/Office of Boating Safety. Through
this five-year, Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) contract, ICF Macro
will provide technical and administrative support services to conduct
alternating annual surveys in support of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG)
Office of Boating Safety.
ICF Macro is an industry leader in survey research and has considerable
experience conducting some of the largest telephone, mail, in-person,
Internet, and mixed-methodology surveys for the Federal government.
“Competing and winning projects like the National Survey on Recreational
Boating Safety plays to ICF Macro’s strengths, given our extensive
experience with large scale residential phone surveys like NOAA’s
Coastal Household Telephone Survey (CHTS), the National Alcohol Survey
(NAS), National Tobacco Survey (NATS), and the Behavioral Risk Factor
Surveillance Survey (BRFSS) as well as our significant content area
expertise regarding recreational activities and public safety,” said Dr.
Greg N. Mahnke, senior vice president, ICF Macro.
The overall goal of this survey is to collect detailed information which
will allow analysts to target safety programs and initiatives to
specific segments of the boating community. For this project, ICF Macro
will design and conduct national surveys to sample, collect, and analyze
activity data from recreational boating participants, and compile
profiles of the boating population. The results of the survey will be
used as measurement in the National Recreational Boating Survey (NRBS)
Programs’ Strategic Plan.
“We are excited to start working on this new opportunity. This contract
builds upon our practice in survey work related to recreational
fisheries, and allows us to further expand our qualifications for
outdoor recreation research,” said Mr. Thomas P. Duffy, vice president,
ICF Macro.
