Summary Judgment Granted in Walker (NV); Plaintiffs Voluntary Dismiss Zaragoza (CA) and Bolander (FL)

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 11, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a leading provider of technology solutions and the market leader in electronic control devices (ECDs), announced that three (3) arrest-related death lawsuits were dismissed against TASER International. No monies were paid by TASER International to plaintiffs for these dismissals.

In the first lawsuit, the United States District Court for the District of Nevada issued an order in the arrest-related death lawsuit entitled Walker v. TASER International, et al. granting TASER International's motion for summary judgment and also granting TASER International's motion to exclude the testimony of Plaintiff's purported expert, Dr. Erik Sirulnick.

In the second lawsuit, the Superior Court for the County of Sacramento, California entered an order, based on a stipulation of the parties, dismissing without prejudice TASER International from the arrest-related death litigation entitled Zaragoza v. TASER International, et al.

In the third lawsuit, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida entered an order, based on a stipulation of the parties, dismissing with prejudice TASER International from the arrest-related death litigation entitled Bolander v. TASER International, et al.

"The court's ruling granting TASER's summary judgment in the Walker case is especially notable since the court also ordered the exclusion of Dr. Sirulnick's testimony due to a lack of scientific reliability," said Doug Klint, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of TASER International. "In addition, the fact that the plaintiffs in the Bolander and Zaragoza litigations voluntarily dismissed these lawsuits is indicative of the strong medical and scientific evidence that the TASER(r) device did not cause these unfortunate deaths. TASER International will continue to aggressively defend all litigation filed against the Company," continued Klint.
