Aug. 15--RECOGNITION
Bodybuilding.com, an Internet bodybuilding and fitness site, received two Nutrition Business Journal Business Achievement Awards, one for Growth in Large Companies, recognizing the firm's 43 percent revenue growth in 2008, and Deal of the Year, for its acquisition by conglomerate Liberty Media.
NBJ is a monthly executive journal focusing mostly on the nutrition industry. NBJ also addresses how the industry impacts the larger food, pharmaceutical and health care industries. In order to win an award, companies must be nominated by their peers, with final winners picked by a committee of NBJ staff and editorial advisory board members.
Bodybuilding.com President Jeremy DeLuca accepted the award at the 2009 NBJ Summit at St. Regis Resort in Dana Point, Calif.
Transmission projects designed by POWER Engineers of Hailey were singled out for excellence as the Edison Electric Institute announced its 2009 Edison Award winners Northeast Utilities and American Transmission Company.
The award, given in June in San Francisco, "recognizes U.S. and electric companies for outstanding leadership, innovation and advancement in the electric industry."
NU, a Connecticut-based electrical transmission company that serves customers across New England, embarked on a series of upgrades to its transmission system, including the Glenbrook Cables Project, the Long Island Replacement Cable Project, the Middletown-Norwalk Project and the Bethel-Norwalk Project. Although the institute handed out the award for NU's efforts on all four major upgrade projects, the Bethel-Norwalk project stands out because it alone generated more than $150 million in congestion-related savings for the utility.
On that project, POWER was NU's design engineer responsible for providing preliminary engineering through construction management for the addition and modifications to 115 kV transmission, more than 20 miles of new 345 kV overhead and underground transmission, three new transition stations and major modifications to two substations. POWER was also engaged on the Middletown-Norwalk Project, doing the detailed design for two major 345 kV substations.
ATC, which owns and operates the high voltage electric transmission system in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and Illinois, completed a 345 kV, 220-mile-long transmission line between Wausau, Wis., and Duluth, Minn., freeing up significant transmission constraints and improving electric reliability in the region.
POWER was ATC's design engineer, responsible for preliminary engineering and final design, plus right-of-way acquisition and construction support on the multi-year project.
