Aug. 19, 2009 (Business Wire) -- Molycorp Minerals, LLC announced today that it has added two new independent members to its Board of Directors. Jack E. Thompson, former Vice Chairman of Barrick Gold Corp. and Major General Charles R. Henry (U.S. Army Retired), have joined the Company’s Board of Directors effective immediately.
In addition to his prior position as Vice Chairman of Barrick Gold Corp., Mr. Thompson had served as Chairman and CEO of Homestake Mining until its merger with Barrick in 2001. Mr. Thompson holds current or former positions on the Boards of Directors of some of the world’s leading mining, aluminum and oil services companies including, Tidewater Inc., Century Aluminum Co., Centerra Gold Inc., Rinker Group Ltd., Phelps Dodge Corp., Stillwater Mining Co., Homestake Mining Co., Barrick Gold Corp., and Prime Resources Group. Mr. Thompson is active in community organizations currently or formerly serving on the boards of the John Muir Health Foundation, John Muir Health Network, Alamo Rotary Club, and the University of Arizona College of Engineering Industry Advisory Council. He has taught seminars and classes on corporate governance and management at the University of Arizona, Golden Gate University and the University of California Davis.
General Henry, who is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College and Woodrow Wilson Law School, has over 32 years of senior leadership in the federal government, and 15 years of experience as a senior executive working in civilian industry. He has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal three times and has also received the Legion of Merit and a Bronze Star. General Henry’s career has included positions and postings as, CEO of C.E. Gillman Company, Chairman and CEO of LFR Group, President of Allied Research Corporation Services, Commander Defense Contract Management Command and Deputy Director Defense Logistics Agency. General Henry is also currently a member of the Boards of Directors of Tennessee Apparel Corporation, Gaming Partners International Corporation, Vomaris Innovations and the Procurement Roundtable.
