Aug. 20, 2009 (Business Wire) -- Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine (www.csemag.com) has announced its 2009 MEP Giants. Published in the August issue of Consulting-Specifying Engineer, the annual MEP Giants list features the top mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering firms, listed by total MEP design revenue. These firms conduct systems engineering and commissioning services for non-residential construction and renovation projects.
For more than 30 years, the Consulting-Specifying Engineer MEP Giants list (www.csemag.com/giants) has been used by many engineering firms to track their growth and prominence within the MEP engineering industry. For 2009, the top three engineering firms based on MEP design revenue are AECOM Technology Corp., Los Angeles, Burns & McDonnell, Kansas City, Mo., and URS Corp., San Francisco.
“A total of 95 firms are represented in this year’s MEP Giants list, with MEP design revenue totaling to more than $4.4 billion. The total MEP design revenue is down only 3% from 2007 and there are five fewer firms on the list. The recession threw engineering firms a curve ball in the fourth quarter of 2008, but they showed resiliency by adding services in commissioning and maintenance/repair/operations (MRO). The green market and attention to energy efficiency upgrades will help engineering firms in 2010,” said Michael Ivanovich, editor-in-chief of Consulting-Specifying Engineer.
