Obama to golf, read while vacationing
Tuesday, August 25, 2009 11:43 AM

Obama's golfing partners at Oak Bluffs golf course Monday was Robert Wolf, UBS (NYSE:UBS) Investment Bank president, White House aide Marvin Nicholson and others, the Cape Cod Times reported.

Obama didn't come alone to the Massachusetts island. The White House press corps followed the first family on their vacation at Blue Heron Farm.

"Holed up among a tangle of computer cords in the Oak Bluffs School gym, about 70 (photographers), writers, producers and TV news reporters from all over the country peppered Bill Burton, deputy press secretary, with questions about the health care bill, the CIA and even racism, all this among scant details about golf dates and Obama's vacation reading list," Times reporter K.C. Myers wrote on her blog.

During a media briefing, Burton released Obama's vacation reading list. Among the tomes were:

-- "Hot, Flat, and Crowded," by Thomas Friedman, which urges a "green revolution."

-- "John Adams," by biographer David McCullough, which won a Pulitzer Prize in 2002.

-- "Lush Life," by Richard Price, a murder novel set in New York City.

-- "Plainsong, "by Kent Haruf, a novel set in Colorado.

-- "The Way Home," by George Pelecanos, a crime thriller set in Washington.
