The 12th Annual National Press Club 5k Run/ Walk & Auction raises funds for the National Press Club Scholarship for Diversity in Journalism. The National Press Club has worked diligently to promote diversity in America's newsrooms. Over the past decade, the Club has awarded more than $600,000 to bright young people in need of financial assistance to attend journalism and communications schools and realize their full potential. Past winners have attended such prestigious institutions as Georgetown University, Harvard University, American University and Columbia University and have gone on to work in some of the nation's top newsrooms.

" Our runners and walkers will be delighted with this dazzling, 3-D route map that depicts buildings, landmarks and even trees in amazing detail," National Press Club President Donna Leinwand said. "We are grateful to Harris for contributing such terrific technology and for its ongoing support of the National Press Club mission to educate the next generation of journalists."

"Harris Corporation has been a proud sponsor of the National Press Club for more than a decade, and we are delighted to be able to leverage a technology we developed for our intelligence and defense customers for the Club," said Richard White, Harris Vice President for Washington Operations. "We hope the racers enjoy the bird's eye view of the course and applaud them for supporting this very worthy cause."

Harris, which provides geospatial visualization technology and models to business, government and military customers, used its patented geospatial RealSite(R) solution to transform satellite, aerial and ground-based imagery into an extremely accurate model and video of the NPC 5K race course. Harris also recently produced 3-D virtual models and videos of Washington, D.C., the Presidential Inauguration Parade route, the Marine Corps Marathon, the National Memorial Day Parade route, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Baltimore Orioles' Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Aerial oblique imagery was provided courtesy of Pictometry International Corporation.

A high-definition version of the map is available to news media for broadcast, and a web-only version is available for placement on websites for any organization wishing it. For copies of the video, please contact Morgan.Dyson@harris.com or call 202-729-3750.
