Consumers Energy Seeks Approval for Power Supply Contracts

Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy, has asked the Michigan Public Service Commission to approve power supply contracts with six new Michigan-based renewable energy projects to be owned and operated by third parties.

According to the company, the six projects represent a total of 9.4MW of capacity and 65,000MWh of renewable energy annually for up to 20 years.

The six new projects are: a landfill gas generation project, owned and operated by North American Natural Resources; a hydroelectric generation project, leased and operated by Elk Rapids Hydroelectric Power; an anaerobic digestion generation project, owned and operated by Fremont Community Digestor; an anaerobic digestion generation project, owned and operated by Scenic View Dairy; a landfill gas generation project, owned and operated by Zeeland Farm Services; and a landfill gas generation project, owned and operated by WM Renewable Energy.
